Founded in 1962, The Box Project helps over 25,000 people annually. Helping members are matched with families in need, mostly in rural Mississippi, in the Delta Region -- the poorest area of the United States.

Once a month the helping person or family sends a box of items to their new friends; food, clothing, books, toys, and household supplies are common fillers. Letters are exchanged, and over time, a relationship based on trust and friendship develops.

Some responses from those who have been helped:

"She has done so much for us I can't begin to tell you how much.
She is the reason we going places We did not go because we did
not have things to wear. All my thanks go to her and you all."

"I am so glad to be a part of The Box Project
and since I have become a part of it, me and
my kids are doing a whole lots better."

"I wasn't in the Christmas spirit until we receive our Christmas
gifts from you. It's good to know that someone cares about
people they have never met or talk to, just read letter."
