Life Could Be Verse:
Reflections on Love, Loss, and What Really Matters

by Kirk Douglas

How Oft Have I Sat Behind Thee

How oft have I sat behind thee
In awe and watched thy titian hair
Resplendent in the rays
Of morning's golden light,
Which danced about thy head
For joy, a gorgeous sight!
Each ray thus shaped
A sparkling diadem
Of jewels to crown
You queen of beauty over all.
Bewitched by a vision so fair,
I reached out and touched your hair.
Happily you turn, smile at me—
And change my humble state to ecstasy.

In addition to Life Could Be Verse (available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble), Kirk Douglas is the author of many books: The Ragmans's Son, Last Tango in Brooklyn, Dance with the Devil, The Broken Mirror, Climbing the Mountain: My Search for Meaning, Let's Face It: 90 Years of Living, Loving, and Learning, and I Am Spartacus!: Making a Film, Breaking the Blacklist.
He is also a columnist for The Huffington Post and of course a superb and much-loved Academy Award-winning actor!
