Mahatma Gandhi said,
"There is more to life than increasing its speed."

With that philosophy in mind, New York writer Don Owens recently exchanged the tempo of Metropolis for the relaxed lifestyle and vivid, blue skies of Central Florida. He has settled near the culturally diverse city of Orlando, hometown to legendary beat writer, Jack Kerouac, and the robust economy of tourism.

"The view of America is immense from here," writes Owens. "Space shuttles soar over head like commercial airliners. Nearby sandy beaches edge the respective coastlines of the Atlantic and Gulf as well as innumerable spring-fed lakes. The arts abound in Orlando, easily quenching the sizable thirst of its millions of residents and visitors."
